Creating a Monster

The year was 2011 and Terry saw neighbor Jim McLeod tinkering around with something in his garage. Curious, Terry walked over and said, "Whatcha working on?" That was the beginning of our karting life.

While Terry had often worked on small engines, full-size vehicles, and even airplanes, he didn't know much about go karts. He quickly got an education from Jim and other karting dads, but much of what he learned was by trial and error. His goal became to keep Brody's kart running on the track so the win or loss was entirely up to the driver. For the most part, he succeeded.

Two years later, he added another kart to keep running when Joelle began racing. Then, as she became obsessed with the sport, he added a third kart to the mix when she decided to race two classes.

Through it all, Terry has met the challenges associated with the mechanics on various engines, from the Comer 50 and Honda 50 to the LO206 Briggs and several Rotax packages. His goal remains the same: to keep the kids on the track and let their driving be the difference.

Terry has also been the lead sponsor for Lewis Racing since the team's inception. Unfortunately, with costs skyrocketing and the racing dreams of both drivers expanding, we need help to continue to fund their journey. We would be extremely grateful for any sponsorships or donations that come our way to make sure Brody and Joelle can achieve their racing goals.
