Kid Kart Years
A New Hobby
Brody had dabbled in various sports such as ice hockey and wrestling until he discovered go kart racing when he was seven years old. Well, actually, his dad discovered it for him when a neighbor was tinkering with his son's go kart in his garage and Terry became curious. The rest, as they say, is history.
After racing in two non-club races in 2011, Brody began racing in the Kid Kart class with the then-Colorado Junior Karting Club in 2012, taking second place in his very first race. He was the top novice finisher in Kid Kart. That same year, he competed at the Kid Kart Nationals in St. Louis, Missouri, placing fourth in the LO206 Briggs class and fifth in the Restricted Comer class.
In 2013, Brody and a fellow Kid Kart racer battled for first and second place all season until the final race, when Brody was edged out for the top podium spot by only a few points.
LO206 Jr 1, MiniMax, and LO206 Jr 2 Years
A PERIOD OF TRANSITION
By 2014, Brody was growing fast and he quickly outgrew the smaller karts, moving from LO206 Jr 1 Cadet to Rotax MiniMax to LO206 Jr 2 in three years. While he was competitive every time he hit the track, he was never able to gain consistent time in a single class. He raced Jr 1 in 2014 and MiniMax in 2015, gaining valuable experience and forming lifelong friendships along the way.
Brody took some time off from racing in 2016 before returning to race Jr 2 in 2016. That year, he placed third overall in the Colorado Karting Tour LO206 Jr 2 class, taking either second or third place in all club races that season. He then "retired" from racing, electing to support Joelle as a mechanic in 2018 and 2019.
LO206 Adult Years
Back In it to Win it
Brody couldn't stay away from karting for long, though. Before he could get his real driver's license, he had to take a training course in 2020 that included driving a go kart. When he got back in the seat, he remembered how much fun it was and decided to race in the LO206 Adult Heavy class in the Twilight Series at Action Karting that summer. Having been gifted an adult chassis that had seen better days, he made the podium several times and decided he still had the desire to compete in karting.
The following year, he raced with the Colorado Karting Tour in the LO206 Adult Heavy class, placing 6th out of 19 in an extremely tough class.
In 2022, Brody raced his new CompKart that replaced his old, worn out CRG. He was competitive in many races and finished the season in 5th place overall.
Brody graduated from high school in 2023 and used some of his graduation money to buy a new Lando Norris OTK kart. He kept improving his race craft and even though he had some unlucky races, he ended up in 4th place overall for the season, just off the podium.
Year 2024 saw a lot of changes. First, Action Karting, where Brody worked for most of his high school years, closed down, along with Bandimere Speedway. For the first time since he started racing, he would not have a race at the Action Karting track, his home track. It was hard to see it go, but fortunately, an old friend returned.
In the summer of 2024, the former Track at Centennial made a triumphant return as the Colorado Karting Circuit! Brody would not only race his heart out all season to capture 3rd place overall for the season, but he also landed a career-path position at CKC that would allow him to continue to be around the sport he loves.
Due to his position at CKC, Brody will not be racing a full season in 2025 and likely beyond. Instead, he will be helping other drivers hone their craft at CKC and watching new drivers find their passion. If you ever want to try karting, come out to CKC and ask for Brody! He'll get you on the right track (pun intended)!
Although Brody has retired from racing full seasons, he will still be competing in the Colorado Karting Tour Adult Heavy class as he is able. He also hopes to compete in the LO206 championships in Indiana in October. Please consider becoming a Lewis Racing sponsor to help Brody compete in this prestigious race. Thank you.
